It’s the first day of Fall, and even though almost every store started putting out Fall merchandise basically the day after Fourth of July. As the warmth of the season rolls in and the weather chills, depending on where you are, I wanted to leave a reminder to allow the change of the seasons flow within you as well. The constant should always be your health, fitness, mental and spiritual wellbeing.
I wanted to ease the burden of the brain work by giving a few mocktail you can add to the change of the season along with your ever-changing cycle. Below are three mocktail recipes for each phase of your cycle; menstrual, follicular, ovulatory, and luteal phases.
I’ll start with the phase that most likely with through you off balance for a few days. I tried to make these recipes easy to follow and to make.
I typically make 4 servings of any drink I make because who has time to make a drink multiple times in one day. Not I said the cat.
The Menstrual Phase (Days 1-5)
The Restorative Ruby Tonic
Equipment
- 1 tea kettle
- 1 juicer optional
Ingredients
- 1 cup beet juice organic
- ½ cup raspberry leaf tea organic
- 1 tsp ground ginger, or 2 tbsp ginger juice organic
- 1 tbsp blackstrap molasses
- 1 dash orange juice
- 1 orange peel twist for garnish optional
Instructions
- Bring at least 1 cup of water to a boil and let raspberry leaf tea steep for 10 minutes. Optional to let it cool.
- In a shaker, combine ground ginger or ginger juice, blackstrap molasses, and a squeeze of orange juice. Or, if you're lazy like me, mix everything in the glass you will drink out of and just stir it. Now you have one less thing to wash up because if you're like me, I'm not trying to do extra while I'm on my period.
- Add ice if desired chilled. Shake well and strain into a glass.
- Garnish with an orange peel twist if you're fancy like that or just drink as is.
